FTTH Products

42Networks provides products for triple-play networks. This puts high demands for reliability and quality of the hardware and software. Our DRG Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) series construction allows distribution of multiple services with guaranteed quality.

Internet

The DRG allows up to 100MBit/s Internet connections with minimal delay due to wirespeed. The multiple LAN ports also give the end user the possibility of connecting several computers to the unit. Through features like bandwidth shaping and MAC-address restriction, the Internet service offering can be differentiated to suite a broad range of operators and end users.

Broadband Telephony

For broadband telephony, the DRG has 2 in-build FXS POTS ports. Existing analog telephones or fax machines can thus be connected directly to the DRG unit to get telephone service. Software supports H.323, SIP, MGCP and H.248 VoIP protocols enabling DRGs to work in many environments and systems. Alternatively, IP telephones or VoIP CPE's can be connected to the LAN ports of the DRG.

The DRGs prioritization mechanisms guarantee the bandwidth and quality of voice calls allowing operators to offer first-line telephony.

IPTV

Due to multiple LAN ports, the DRG units are an ideal solution when deploying IP-TV services as each set-top box requires their own LAN port in the CPE. Software features, like IGMP snooping, Quality of Service mechanisms and wirespeed further improve the quality of the IP-TV service.

CaTV

DRG units can be equipped with a CaTV receiver. The receiver can be used for analogue or digital TV signals. When transmitting analogue TV signals, no additional set-top boxes or new cabling are required simplifiying the home installation.

Other services

The DRG supports basically any other service using IP and Ethernet. Some models also have a serial port for low speed data or control signals.

Remote management

The DRG units are managed remotely and they are designed for plug and play configuration, both for end users and operators.

For field trials or smaller installations, an in-built web GUI can be used for configuration. In larger installations, an element management system is recommended in order to automate the provisioning and configuration process. The DRG units can be integrated with existing management systems via open interfaces, such as SNMP or DHCP options. As an alternative, 42Networks offers own developed HDD management system, which can be used either as a stand-alone product or integrated with network management systems.
